The Liver is a vital organ present in vertebrates and some other animals. It has a wide range of functions, including detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of biochemicals necessary for digestion.

History

In 1998, Major General Jacob Carter's cancer spread to his liver. (SG1: "The Tok'ra, Part 1")

In 2005, liver failure was one of the health conditions that was had by a Dr. Elizabeth Weir, who was from an alternate timeline where Atlantis' shield collapsed and the expedition perished. (SGA: "Before I Sleep")

After Dr. Carson Beckett examined the Lord Protector, he informed Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and Otho that he was anemic and that it seemed both his liver and kidneys were malfunctioning. (SGA: "The Tower")

In 2008, Dr. Radek Zelenka was stabbed by Neeva Casol with a pair of pliers and his liver was hit. (SGA: "Identity")

In 2009, Commander Kiva of the Lucian Alliance was shot in the liver by Colonel David Telford and died. (SGU: "Incursion, Part 1", "Intervention")
